Lost Vision

There is a kid in me that yearns to see,
orange mountains and turquoise seas.
She jumps at the smell of mud and sound of rains.
She scorns at the hot sun that causes headaches,
strangely enough she dreams of feeling Sahara under her feet.
Heights make her sweat and water frightens, but she wants to face her fears
and jump from the highest peak and dive into the ocean.

The kid in me slowly succumbs into a lifeless prison,
knowing she'll never hit the road to reach natural landscapes.

Who defines tempting?
The rapist? Illiterate politician? Naïve scholar?
My clothes scare you,
You implore me to cover up.
I’m bounded by convention,
Scared that you’d taunt me.
I put on layers of fabric,
To not entice you.
You try harder,
To look through the blanket.
You use your imagination,
To comment on me anyway.
I’ve succumbed to your pressure,
I’ve lowered my gaze,
I whisper and hush,
I simply walk away.
You then turn to little kids,
Full of laughter and cheer.
You manipulate them,
By promising a treat.
You take them to scary places,
To brutally rape them.
You take away their life
Even before they’ve started to bloom.
Bruises on their bodies when recovered,
Destroy my faith in humanity.
I start to fear,
And tell all the kids how chocolate is deadly.
You protest, lecture, and take a bullet,
But I know all this is temporary.
As the smoke clears,
And you sit to assess the situation,
You will continue to blame me.
Concluding, I was indirectly the cause,
I shouldn’t have appeared on TV, movies or posters,
Dressed in a way you do not approve of.
I know now for sure,
You’ll do anything imaginable
To not admit your animalistic thoughts.

Untitled 3

A deep breath, tears gather at the corners
Of your eyes,
Lips broaden in smile, heart cracks
Underneath a heavy chest
The brain implores to hold back sorrows,
Crying is a weakness, nobody around
Would care to sincerely ask why.

A stranger on the road looks at you
A thousand questions on his mind,
Hesitates to ask why,
Walks away carrying the mystery in his
Mind.

The pain continues to reside, heart
Broken & mind destroyed.
You live in hope that one day somebody
Will fix it and then fear strikes,
Fix they may but so will they destroy.

You then decide to leave your heart
Broken, to embrace the pain and continue
To smile.

Untitled 2

Bleeding heart, screaming in pain
My voice goes unheard.
My scream insignificant.
Trying to break free, from the shackles of restrictions, regulations, and religions
Engulfed by fear and forced to surrender
I'm lost amongst people,
fulfilling their unending expectations.
Fighting against my heart's desires.
I'm standing at the edge of the cliff,
Unsure of what to choose.
Is death after a wonderful flight better?
Or to live without any freedom?
I'm yet again trying to reason with
those cold and merciless eyes
Convincing them, it's okay if I break a few rules.
Those norms that make me, lesser.
Lesser than who I truly Am.

Untitled

When the shadows of past haunt you,
When the comfort of someone's arms is lost,
When the sun refuses to rise,
When you're consumed by sand dunes,
Take a deep breath and give in.
Let the shadows come before you,
Look into the eyes of your fears and watch them fade away.
Let the realisation strike, the comfort is always within you.
Go to a hill top and see the sun hiding behind the stormy clouds.
Sink in the sand to get to the other side,
The side where you're stronger and wiser than ever before.
